I had the pleasure of meeting David Ross when he did a presentation for the Saint Andrew's Society of Richmond,VA. He was an incredible speaker, knew his Scottish history, and had a great sense of humor. I have purchased/read every book I can find that David wrote. Love his work! Feel honored to have a signed copy of the "Black Douglas". When we found that he passed, the Society had a segment of their Hogmanay in his honour. He was a true friend of SASR and will be missed. I think of him often and know Scotland lost a true patriot. He will be the first person I'll think of if Scottish independence becomes a reality. RIP my friend...

It was a shock to see that the world had lost Mr Ross. For those of us who strive to make our children proud of their heritage he was a living history. He truly was a son of Scotland.

Enjoyed David's appearances at the Mt Hope Celtic Fair, and his passion for telling the story of the Scots. Am sure he is still regaling his friends and enjoying the view.

I found out in late August of Dave's passing and was soo sadden by the news. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family, friends and especially the band members for I know he will be greatly missed. I have seen the band even before they were Albannach in several states. I work at the Maryland Rennaisance Festival and always made it to several of their performances each weekend they played. I could listen to Dave over and over again. I had a long conversation with him in Sept or Oct 2009. He was such a fascinating person.
Once while visiting Florida some friends asked me to the Highlands Festival and I was so estatic to find that Albannach was performing...I even had a t-shirt with me! I spoke with David that weekend, with the 6 to 8 foot aligators sunny themselves on the banks of the pond behind the stage, with no fences between! Quite different from Scotland.
I missed you this season and do hope you return. Hugs to everyone! We all feel your loss.

Hate I just now saw this for some reason, I enjoyed his presentations at the Highland games in NC back in 2009. Eternal Rest to him!

What a shocking and sad moment when we heard of the loss of David Ross. We are thankful to have met David and to have heard him speak at the Celtic Festival in Manheim,PA. A true Celtic ambassador and friend. Thankfully, his work and his soul, will live on through his friends, Albannach, and the rest of us who had the great fortune to meet him.
