Scottish hiking trip.
« on: Thursday 10 May 2012, 09:20 »

Morning from cold, wet and windy Alba,
Ok a few folks here making noise about a hiking trip if Alba.
I'd love to conduct a hiking tour for folks who want it, this could be done with a week long tour.
Fly in and use first day to get to where we need to be, last min check of hiking gear and kit, eat sleep.

This would be a SEPERATE tour from the Bronach one....this is hiking alone!!!

The next five days we can hike, this means ALL day out on the mountains...these are mostly exposed high tops so proper gear and a decent level of fitness would be needed!!!

Flying in i'd like to make it Glasgow, closer to the west coast highlands for starting our climb & finishing and i feel we can have a right good day out in Glasgow as our last day !

Yes Glencoe will be taken in, as will some other great Scottish ranges....but i stress these mountains are not a walk in the park...mostly all over 3000ft and usually its straight up from sea level.

Saying that its not a race...the mountains not going anywhere so we can take our time, i want you all to see and feel the peace that these mountains can bring.

We will be staying in Hotels, makes it easier on all of us, good food and drink at the end of a climb...i dont know about you folks but i love to eat after a hike. Also warm clean beds, hot shower and a hearty breakfast will make it easier getting out and onto the mountains again the next day!

Bill Reid will be working with me on this project, his skill with all the booking logistics is second to none and i'll sleep better at night knowing he's involved.
I'll be your personal mountain guide so no worries about getting lost out there, i'll make sure everyone is safe and sound!

So....Scottish wilderness, Mountains, cozy bars, good company, singing in a mini bus, sore feet, photos to die for....the list goes on!!!

Jamesie...

PLEASE EMAIL BILL AT eohebrides@aol.com and head you email Scottish hiking trip. We shall get a list going and take it from there folks.

Already emailed Bill  :D  Sounds great, though different from the hiking I'm used to. Florida is flat as a pancake.  Much research and exercise to be done!

This trip sounds heavenly, but I'll have to wait and see date, price, etc.

What a great way to really experience the beauty of Scotland!  Sent my email to Bill!  :)

ETA:  The more I think on it, the more I really hope this happens.  I really like the premise of a specific focus for the trip (not that I need a specific reason to visit Scotland), and the fact that it would be a small, intimate group.

Great idea, Jamesie - make it happen!

I'm not on here much...glad I popped in to see this!  The 2010 tour was my first trip to Scotland and I loved it so much I had to make another trip later that same year...and I'm trying to sneak another trip in later this summer.  :)   Earlier this week I spent way too much time on Google Maps dreaming about a trip like this. Having somebody else do the planning would be perfect!  I sent Bill an email...can't wait to see the details!   :bounce
