My new baby boys.
« on: Sunday 10 July 2011, 04:27 »
Hubby couldn't take coming home and finding me fighting tears over giving up horses anymore. He told me to just go and buy two miniatures. I had to get two though as that way if I should loose one again ( Heaven forbid) I can cry on his shoulder while hugging the other mini.
So I thought I would share the pictures of my little men. Now I just need to pick names.
Oh, the joy this has brought back into my life.

I agree - this is such a good thing for you! They are quite handsome. And mini ponies are very versatile creatures - there really isn't anything they can't do with a little training. Of course cart driving and the such, but jumping and I've even know people to potty train them and turn them into therapy ponies that can go inside hospitals to visit the less-mobile folk! And I know - despite their size, they are chock full of personality and attitude! You'll really enjoy getting to know these little guys, I'm sure! I expect stories of antics and updates on how they are doing and such! haha and pics - upload plenty of pics! Pony photo shoots are always a memorable way to spend your time! haha

They are adorable! Since you've had to give up riding, have you considered driving? Mini's are great for that.

@ Candy Lass - Thanks, they sure have my heart already. With all we have been doing to get the old barn down and the RV pad in and fences and buildings, my poor husband has not had one day off since April. I also have this knee surgery coming up in late Aug. ( dang it) yes this messes up seeing the Nach AGAIN.
Anyway, the boys are only one month old and can't be weaned for another 3 months. The breeder offered to let me take the mares home with the boys till weaning, but that puts a bigger barn on the list to build and I just can't do that to my loving hubby. So I will just have to go visit them once a week until I can't drive cause the surgery. By then hubby can take some rest and then we can put up a new stall and paddock.
So Sept is when they come home. Oh happy me.
My heart is so light and I truly didn't know that I was getting so sad. Even the kids are happy to see me so back to normal.

@ Equipix and Iseult01 - Yes, I have wanted to join a program called Personal Ponies and raise therapy ponies. Having an Autistic son I know how wonderful horses of any size are to others. I am planning on doing just that with my boys. While not through Personal Ponies, I can at least take them to local places and offer up visiting times for those that like me love horses, but for what ever reason can't or don't have them. My riding buddy does this with her older mare already, so we can just open up a new area for those that want a smaller horse to love on.
I have done driving and even went as a helper with a friend to do CDE in Beaverton, Or. Great fun, dressage in a cart, endurance run, and gaming type obstacles. It was a blast and I was only on foot and caring for her mini at check points. I did have a mini cart, and sold it three years ago. It will be a while before they can pull a cart, but lots of time to train them to drive and pull at least training poles.
I will take more pictures. That is the one thing I didn't do much of with my Cody.

Oh, the names have been chosen
The darker one, I think he will be silver colored is now " Hawk" though the way this little guy walks and swings his head, he was almost named after J. LOL he just need to learn to jump and carry a drum.
The Palomino is " Ranger"
I am now thinking how can I make little tartans for the boys. HAHAHAH who knows what I will come up with. I do promise to put one on our bed ( of course hubby's side) and take a picture just cause I can.

I have to say that Hawk reminds me so much of my Cody. It is his eyes and face. I feel like a bride getting ready to be married. I am so happy that the Lord heard my prayers and to feel joy upon waking again, and I don't even have them home yet.

:bounce :bounce :bounce :bounce :bounce :bounce :bounce
Silly me, you would think I am 10 years old and not pushing 45. Second childhood coming on.

Thanks Barbara and Valkyrie.

@ Valkyrie - they will mature out at 30 inches high. So no riders ever unless under 50 lbs. I may train them to cart in time, but not until they are 4 or 5 years old.
I changed my mind about the little palomino, as he had pink around the eyes and mouth. I have never cared for that trait. So I switched to a little black and white pintaloosa colt. Below are the pictures of Hawk - ( silver) with a head and neck clip. and Reno - ( black and white) with a body clip. You can get a better idea of their colors by clipping them. They should darken some, but we won't know for sure their true color until they shed out in their second year.
They don't get to come home until the first weekend of Sept. bad timing, but that is the way of it.

Very true Candy-Lass - Yes, this is still me, ended up with email issues and then gave up getting back so I just deleted the reining*in*oregon and started over. The boy's are growing well and come home on Labor Day weekend. The barn is getting there, the stalls are livable as we gained a mini mare from my Vet's wife. So we spent a weekend in a rush to get up a fence and some shade for her. Such a little thing she is and so sweet. Her name is Madelyn, I have been calling her Miss Piggy as she was put on a diet. Fattest little mini I have ever seen.

AWE, Thanks Scarlett! I have missed connecting with friends on here and my hip group.
I have been so blessed lately though, so no complaints from me. I can't even tell you how peaceful my mind has been since the mini mare arrived. I have had so many tears of joy, about time too. I got awfully tired of non stop tears from mourning. Still miss my Cody, but to smell the fresh hay and just sit and listen to the horse eating. AWE!!!! Heaven !!!
I find it hard to believe that I was trying to fool myself into no horses. This mini horse idea, giving by a friend, was the most wonderful thing for me. Dang lucky too that my husband is such a sweetheart to buy and build my new barn. I really don't know why he does all this for me. What a wonderful man I have to cling to. Even if his head spun around  :% when I went from two little mini's to now I am going to run a breeding farm. LOL He should have known.  HAHAHAH. So now I have three with one due to foal. And we agreed that five mares and two studs is the max. But I did reserve the right to keep the best foals to bring up as replacement stock. HA, me. The one horse person all my life. If I lived in Dixie, they would say I was in high cotton.
So the mini breeding farm has now a name. " Hawks Nest Miniature Horses" Due to the Red Shouldered Hawks that we are blessed to have nesting here. I love to hear them every morning calling out. Funny too cause I named one of the colts Hawk. It fit him, he has a little attitude. I don't show, so I will never be a big name breeder. I can't stand the show politics. I prefer a friendly atmosphere.
So no cruise.  :icon_sad:
I hope you can make the Scotland trip they are talking about. Oh how fun that would be. I love historical sites and then add the Nach. WOO Hoo. I can't do Scotland until my youngest can handle us away that long. The Autism makes life run differently, but it is still a wonderful life. Someday, when the boy is older and doing well, hubby and I will make that trip. Don't know if it will be with the Nach, but we both long to visit Scotland.
Looks like maybe Fl venue will be the next summer kilt time? Still as long as he is warned and it makes him smile. As it is meant to make him smile, all is well. ( HA, so now that I know you read these posts - J. - you have been warned)

I did look into flights, and we could afford the fare. My son is not happy with the idea of me being gone for that long. I think I will have to pass. I was going to push for it, but just not the right time for him to make that adjustment.

So here is the framed barn. Still some work to do, but this is what I have gained by giving up see the Nach for this year. I am not giving it up next year. I just won't, I just won't. Last year, I was not allowed to go to San Fran as per the OS that did my hip. Not far enough post op and too far a drive. So 2012 will be my year, all more sweeter, we will make it our 20th anniversary gift to each other. A weekend away in San Fran.
Ha, maybe it will be hot enough in Sept of 2012 that summer wear is needed, ROTFLMAO

Ok, so a while back you all said pictures of me and the mini boy's. I even wore my Nach Army shirt, but hubby took just pictures of the boy's as I don't like to have my picture taken.
So we went out this evening and please notice the important thing, ( Nach Army shirt) and let him take pictures of me with Madelyn. Ugh, I hate pictures of myself, but Madelyn was in the kissy mood.

Wow on the barn. You accomplished a lot in such a short time. Who are you married to? the bionic man? (oops,   I think I just dated myself).

Careful with the summer attire, Candy. The "intended model" may end up making you wear it!  LOL  Jamesie can be scary!  :%

I love it. You two are awesome. LOL I was just thinking about how to make a harness of some kind so Madelyn can carry boxes of crackers. I don't know if she would flip out or not. May take a while as I would need to train her to wear a harness. Would be fun though.
I have always thought that I should have a mini beer wagon and a team of six mini's that look like the Budweiser team. Paint the side of the beer wagon with " Bud Light" HAHAHAH
I love to see those horses. Awesome.
Ok, on to normal thoughts.
You two crack me up. Nope, hubby is not the bionic man. He still has all his natural bones. We have been working on the barn for 4 weeks now. Truthfully it is going slow as he is doing most of it buy himself. I am out there with him, but only to hand him things like more nail for the nail gun and to hold the other end of the board. Yes, I am lucky to have the chance to raise mini's now. Hubby just knows the high cost I have paid with the wreck and loss of my dream horse. This is a good road, now. It was a horrible one between Oct 06 till now. LOL I guess it didn't kill me.

By the way, there is lots of room next door for a cabin. The new barn is up near the small front pasture. There is still 3 acres of pasture and woods not is use. As long as you don't mind cattle and lots of mini's in the yard.

If the model won't wear it, then it would make for a nice hat.

I would love to see your mini beer wagon! OMG!! that would be such a sight!!
you could get that on TV & billboards...I'll bet the beer companies would pay you really nice

Ana - Love the thought. I would love to have a fall fling here. Build a big bonfire in the pasture and have a BBQ and night show with great entertainment. HMMM maybe the Nach.
We could put lots of RV's and or tents up for those camping type. Everyone else can crash in the house. Not enough bedrooms, but tons of floor space. I could move all the furniture out into the garage and put up air mattresses. Just don't roll over into the wood stove.
It would be a blast. I would do it in a flash. Even have five dead trees to drop for the big and I mean big bonfire.  Can't think of a reason that the Nach would want to come here though. ( yeah, I sew things and started a cracker club. Please come to my home for a visit)  :new_stupid: Dang there goes the fun.

OK, back to reality.

You are both welcome anytime. Just give me a ring that you are in town. We can give you a room and feed ya. Oregon is beautiful in all four seasons.

Fuzzy end??? Never mind I am not going there. LOL

O Sue, that would be soooooo much fun!!!!  I suppose if enough people got together the $ could be raised to hire the Nach. They do private functions. It sounds like there's space enough to accomodate a lot of people. Lots of good times and memories could be made!!  :bond

:drunk Misfits, Minis & Magners.....how could I forget the Magners! I feel like having some right now. Unfortunately I would have to drive to the next county

I sure would host it here. Most of you all live on the east coast.  It wouldn't be fun without all of you here though. I think Darkreader and I are the few that live on the west coast. I do believe she is way farther south than I.

Misfits, Minis and Magners, that is catchy. Could become the Cracker club motto

Drum sticks,  :halo

Starting our own??
There is a highland game this weekend the next county over. Never went as I was always on my horse.
Then I found out about Albannach just before my hip replacement. Home school research with the kids lead us to searching for historic Scots music online. And lo and behold : I am hooked.
I have told the folks here that put on the games about Albannach. They even sent me an email back with thanks, they loved the music. So while I won't hold my breath, I will hold out hope for that.

Still, if I hadn't spent the trip money to build a barn. HMM, no I just had to have that barn, horses to me are like air. Need them.
I am always game to throw the misfit and mini bash, but I truly don't think I could get enough folks here to make it worth the Nach's while to come.
A girl can dream though right?
AWE, I so want to hear Donnie play those pipes. Yes it is the pipes for me. I agree that J. is a very good looking man, but my heart is already given to my wonderful husband. So the pipes are what I am after. It is fun though to tease the poor J. lad. I just hope he truly has a wonderful sense of humor like you all say.

Hubby really likes the music too. He is as bummed about not going as I am. Well, maybe more as now he is building a barn and I have already gone from two mini's he wanted me to have to a breeding farm in the works. So that is a min. of 7 mini's at least until the foals begin to arrive. LOL
Time for barn chores.

I love drums but.... hmmm, the pipes. Yes, I remember when I first heard the pipes in person. It wasn't Donnie playing, but still, I got the shivers big time, and some very strange emotional reactions. Which is very strange to me, since I don't have a drop of Scotish blood in me. Maybe I was switched at birth!  LOL  Now, Donnie is just awesome. I haven't heard anyone who can play the pipes like he can!

Been busy working with the boy's. They have been here for 6 days and are coming along nicely.
Today, Madelyn had somehow managed to get a giant splinter in her lower eyelid. Thankfully it didn't enter the eye. She was rubbing and trying to get it out. Sweet thing let me halter her and I pulled it. UGH I hate things like this. Dang thing was about 1/8" wide and over 3" long. Made me shake after I got it out, didn't even think about it before though. Good thing or it would have been a vet call.

I have my webpage up and running, nothing for sale yet, but in time. If you click on the link under my profile picture, it will take you there.

Of course! I must tell others about the Nach. I plan to buy a domain and add music to the site. Just only so much money at this point and still building and buying more mares. LOL my vet's wife laughed at me tonight. As we now have 3 boy's and two girls. She said" aw, Sue. You have it backwards. You will need mares in order to have foals hitting the barn floor. Not colt's." LOL I love my horse vet and his wife. Awesome folks.

OMG, hubby is talking a second barn. Only bigger so we have room for 4 mares foaling at once. HMMM??? Who is going to sleep in the other barn during foaling season???

Ana, I really feel like you statement. I am still having knee issues, after and MRI, X rays, two cortisone shots they tell me. I have anterior knee pain. WTH, I knew that before I went in to see them back in May.  :icon_sad:
So I am getting another opinion. I really wish my vet could treat my knee. It would have been fixed back in June instead of the run around.
UGH.
I hope you are doing better, I have added you to my prayer list.

Aw Sue. I hope things improve soon with your knee and you can find someone who can really help you instead of just telling you a story so they can get their $$$. You need to be nice and healthy so you can enjoy your new babies.

Thanks for adding me to the prayer list. I'm all better now, even though it took yet another trip to one of our emergency centers to get me all sorted out. I'm now worried about my mom. She was in the hospital recently and they found some small nodules on her pleura(the membrane that surrounds the lungs) that tested positive for cancer. She's starting chemo tomorrow and is worried about how her body will react. The doctor seems fairly optimistic about all this and feels it can be taken care of. I certainly hope so. She had a PET scan done but we don't know the results yet. Hopefully there won't be any more cancer found. I would be very grateful if you added her to hte list as well. Her name is Ana, same as me.

I will add your family to my prayers. My husband is a survivor of lymphoma cancer. He went through Chemo. Not fun, but 75% of the fight is mental. If the doctors think the chances are good, listen to them and run with it. The doctors did like the chances for my husband but he won anyway. That was 27 years ago and so far it hasn't come back. ( knock on wood)
