Newspaper article last week......PBR....ha,ha,ha

Just a wee note in the papers,

Anybody who listens to as much music as I do will understand that each genre has an abundance of bands that sound way too much alike. It’s not easy to create new music that doesn’t sound even a little like som...ething else you’ve already heard. Which makes what Scottish band Albannach has accomplished all the more impressive. This Celtic pipe and drums band are unlike anything that I have ever heard, and more refreshing and exciting than ever.

“We play primal tunes, music that makes folks connect with there inner Scot,” says the lead vocalist and bass drummer, who goes simply by Jamsie.

“We have always tried to keep it ‘real.’ I have always believed that the tribal sound of Scotland must have sounded similar to what we are playing: deep, moody and aggressive sounds with the frantic fast flowing pipes keeping it moving along. It would be easy to fling a bass guitar in there to beef up the bottom end, but what’s the doing? It’s taking the ‘real’ out of the sound.”

And luckily for us, we don’t have to travel to Scotland to experience Albannach at their best. They will be performing at Molly Maguires Irish Pub and Restaurant in Landsdale on May 22, from noon to 6pm. Joining them on stage will be The Paul Moore Band and the Brian Boru Pipe Band. This is your chance to experience the roots of Celtic music at it’s best.

“Playing any type of fair gives you the feeling of going back to the grass roots of entertaining,” Jamsie explains. “It’s always been close to us due to our years of playing at the Edinburgh Fringe festival, there's something to be said for getting up close to the crowd, the energy flows way better!”

The event is being produced by East of the Hebrides, who has put together plenty of great Scottish/Irish entertainment in the past. And this event is setting up to be one of the best yet.

It also will be kicking off a United States tour for Albannach. Naturally, I had to confront Jamsie on who has the better fans, the U.S. or the U.K?

“This will get me in trouble, it has to be the U.S. fans. My friend David Ross, who sadly passed away last year, summed it up once, ‘Americans hold on to something they lost or think is missing and that comes down to their ancestors being up-rooted and shipped off to the New World. So now many years and generations on they are uber proud of their roots.’”

And, of course, the U.S. has the better food as well, “Foods great as well...I swear I always put weight on when I am out there. Late night pizza and my new found love of Pabst Blue Ribbon. I’m aware it gets bad press in its native land but us Glasgow boys thinks it's just magic!”

This is an event like no other, and one not to be missed. Landsdale get’s to be Irish one more day this year, and Molly Maguire’s will be playing a great host. Adult’s get in for just $10 and get to experience a stage full of incredible talent.

“We know there’s thousands of people of there that we can’t get to or are just waiting to hear our music and become alive through it. It’s our mission to keep pumping the primal tunes of Scotland out and hope we can put as many of them in touch with their inner Scot!”

Good article, the beer though? While I do have to agree that it has a smooth taste. Living on the West Coast and being a rodeo fan all my life. I still have to bite my tongue when anyone uses the letters PBR, I see bulls and cowboys in my mind. An 8 second ride. Woo Hoo   :red  Google PBR and see what pops up. LOL guess I just have them cowboys with chaps in my mind. Hopefully that will change some after Pleasanton in Sept. I truly have yet to see a real man in a plaid. Ha, the fools in Ashland just don't count as men. Wondering though, how do you compare those rear's?  :red A plaid will either hide or show it. The chaps though define it. LOL Guess you can take the girl out of the country, but you can't take the country out of the girl.

I keep picturing those naughty cowboy pics with the chaps on & nothing else.... :red

Someone should make a custom pair of chaps out of the Albannach tartan plaid & present them to Jamesie!! Can you imagine? LOL

HMMM!!! I have seen pictures of him, but have yet to even hear the Nach play live. Still waiting for Sept. OH, the flashes going through my mind  :halo :red
That is a grand idea, but I am not that good at sewing. Maybe I will look for a set of black chaps and add a bit of the Nach plaid to the inner knees or as trim. Hmm, wonder just what my husband will say to this one.  :red I would need a model for them first. LOL

Ha, I saw a good looking guy on a Harley today. Had on very nice biker chaps, images in my mind are becoming clearer. Somehow I just can't picture Jamesie wearing cowboy chaps. Now biker chaps, that I can picture. I sure don't know him at all, but I can see him on an awesome bike with chaps.  :idea

There are boars in the rodeos. You can find them in the barbeque right next to the corn on the cob   :p

ROTFLMAO.

The sport in rodeo's ?????   Sometimes the bull wins. As for the boar, guess we are just smart enough to know boars are better on the BBQ than in the arena. They make too much noise when angry. LOL
Retarded is a very cruel word. While I am sure you were joking, having a son with Autism. I find it very distasteful.
I am still a Tequila girl.

Not sure the fringe on biker chaps would look right on him. How about plain black leather chaps and a black leather biker jacket with a Nach plaid bandanna around his head.
Or better yet, forget all that and lets just give him a small bit of plaid to use as a loin cloth.  :bounce :bounce :bounce

Did you look at the PM I sent you?
Now that I could sew, just need to get my hands on some Nach plaid. Then tie it up in a ribbon and toss it to him. LOL
So if I do the sewing, who is gonna do the tossing?  :red :red :red
Now why don't they wear these to jump around and drum in???

HMM, NO. I have a very good sense of humor. Could care less about the meaning, teasing behind the statement. I can see they meant to be funny.
That word is simply just not acceptable. Let's give those children and or people with Special Needs some respect.
Sorry, nothing personal patdusa towards you or the newbie. I will never simply accept the use of labeling with the word " retarded".
Moving on, and leaving it all in the dust where it belongs.
