Have to agree with the mind thing.. the inside bit.. when I was much younger as I tend to think most younger people tend to do... I was turned on by a guy's looks, his style, his persona.. his ego even.. it got him where he wanted to be so to speak.. and of course a month later I'd end up disappointed and bored because there was no depth { no snickering ,, okay i'm snickering} , but you know what I mean .. as I've gotten older different things turn me on,, confidence is extremely sexy whereas arrogance is a huge turn off.. the ability to hold an intelligent conversation is super important .. looks matter anyone who says they don't is lying to themselves , the chemistry.. BUT if there is no more beyond that then it's a waste of time..

Alcohol provides better insight into the person you are dealing with and if they get "Too Drunk to F@%("  - you learn that much more about them....   but just my opinion and you know what they are like.....

Rainmaker & Dana totally agree on the "inside" thing. One of the handsomest men I know is also one of the most boring people I've ever met . Used to have a tremendous crush on him until I got to know him better  .  Connecting on other levels does wonders for the physical connection.Within reason, I'll happily place charm over looks (which are temporary anyway). Someone who makes me laugh and enjoys time together talking and sharing interests is a lot more likely to hold my attention. My last long relationship was with a man I had known for 5 years (yeah, ok I'm slow  )

Humor is good too! Need to be able to laugh, at times, when it's the least expected thing to do. I once laughed at a funeral, and could have swore that everyone else there thought I was the spawn of Satan. I proceeded to offer a eulogy from the "peanut gallery," and after it's conclusion, there were quite a few snickers, and not nearly as much tears.

Another thing is the ability to understand double entendres. Those twisted little gems are wonders for the soul!

I agree, too.  One of my friends and I were commenting about some of the really cute guys she works with (we're both married, but a girl can still appreciate a fine man!).  I told her that one in particular was the kind that looked like he played guitar in a smoky bar and wrote songs about his broken heart, but still had ten kinds of bad boy written all over him.  She had heard, though, that he was a jerk and wouldn't talk to anyone unless she was model gorgeous, and was so into himself it was ridiculous.
 
Personality is so much better than anything.  My husband has a warped sense of humor, sometimes embarrassing me in public because of it, but he makes me laugh every day.  He never lets a day go by without telling me he loves me, and that I'm beautiful.  He's amazing and he's real.

You're a lucky woman Catherine   I didn't figure out until after I walked down the aisle I had made a huge mistake even though every fiber in my body was screaming not to,, people told me it was cold feet , yeah it was cold alright when a few short months later i'd lay in bed by myself while he was downstairs talking to some hairy , toothy Asian chick in facebook chat.. as they say " for sale Vera Wang wedding dress size 4 worn once by mistake"

Love a warped sense of humor, since mine is a little strange too,  . I'm usually pretty good at picking up on other's jokes. It was a plus w/my second hubby and it's one of the things I miss. We're still close, though, so we still joke around.

the truth is a huge time saver..sure it stings a lil sometimes BUT it's like a shot or a bee sting , bazing and it's  over.. whereas continual lies not only destroy a relationship but gradually eat away at the ability of the one lied to to trust at all ,, I would have a million times over heard him tell me he wasn't in love with me than deal with the band aid b.s. of hearing that he wasn't doing it anymore only to find out time and time again he lied,, truth can hurt the ego lies can go so much deeper..

Exactly. Why would anyone want to live in a fantasy? You always end up finding out the truth anyway. The longer it takes the more it hurts, and afterwards you're never the same again.
 
I much rather find out right away so I can move on. Life is too short to find out you've been wasting your time.

Asking for lots of prayers for people in this area.  Multiple extremely strong tornados, several fatalities already confirmed.  One of my best friends lives in a town that was nearly destroyed and doesn't know what she's heading home to.  It's a hard day for everyone here.
