Hey all...
Hope the worlds shinning on you all.....just a wee update cause i know your all talking about it....the band will NOT be at GFM this year...wow,wow,wow...before you jump down my throat  LOL LOL this was not our decision...the people at GFM think its better to change the line-up....stupid if you ask me but thats the way of it.

So...our only date this summer in NC will be the WNC celtic festival in Black mountian in June....really hope to see some of the GFM faithful make it down there to support the band....it DOES mean alot to us :o

The GFM boys on high are fools, but some of us already have tickets to WNC and are already making plans  :)

You know, we here in NC (like many other places) have had a terrible winter already, and I was so looking forward to summer and GFMHG. Reading this news today is a complete bummer and a HUGE mistake on someone's part. At least we have June to look forward to. Sigh.
So what about Loch Norman in the spring?
And/or maybe a mid-winter quickie like you did last year in Charlotte at that little pub? Something? Anything? :(

I'll catch you and the band in PA at Celtic Fling, Jamesie. :)  I can't afford two trips to NC, despite how much I love you guys. :(   I missed the Mtn last year, so I hope to go back this year.

They'll see the error of their ways...I know a lot of complaints are being sent to the organizers.  ;)  (Figures it was this year and not last year when I wasn't there, lol)

@ Pat.....see you this weekend...dont start drinkin without us...will be good to see you both again,

GFM will be around for years....maybe we'll be there next year...who know but i do know the Mighty Nach will keep rollin on!

"big" debate going on on Celtic Force's FB page about not having the 'Nach at GFM :) Spirited to say the least.  They are posting the line up for GFM.  Rathkeltier (sp?), Skerryvore (new young band) and Soar Patrol (members look like moonshiners :)), hmmm...won't be the same, but at least Skerryvore looks like an interesting twist?

I know the games aren't supposed to be just about the music, but that's the part I enjoy the most! (and the treasure hunting :))

Sorry for the folks disappointed about GFM.

Of course from the New England perspective, we up here are lucky to get Albannach once a year at NHHG, twice if lucky with PIV. Not sure if PIV will be on the schedule for 2011. I had to miss it in 2010- boy was I UPSET- but...health crisis, could not do the long drive, and could barely walk.  Luckily I am back on my feet again!

Am looking forward to the first ever appearance at RI Scot. I went there once a few years back to see Wicked Tinkers; don't know if it's changed or not but it was a fairly small venue- which is nice, really. No long slogs.  LOL

Already planning the escape to Black Mountain - wait, that sounds like a movie I watched, LOL!

June has got to be better weather than July, the rain made GFM a bit squishy, to say the least.  I did so enjoy it for my first time, no matter what.

So, what are the recommendations for Black MT, camp or hotel?

Yes, there's a lot going on, but the music was always my motivation for giong in the first place.

Yes, I would love any suggestions for camping in the area... Only thing listed so far is a KOA...I don't like KOAs...ain't REAL camping, and much more expensive (yet cheaper than camping at GFM, how ironic :%)

I am upset that the Nach won't be at GFM this year!!  I will not be there due to that. This faithful follower of the Nach will definitely be at WNC and have already bought my tickets!!  See ya there!!!

hahaha!  Squishy. :D  If it was only squishy, wait til you're there 5 days and it rains 4 of them.  Or better yet....when the tattered remnants of a hurricane blow thru.  Yeah.  LOL  Helluva lot more than squishy!  :D

I saw Greg's note that they're working on a deal with a host hotel near Black Mountain. I'll be staying a week, so hope it will only cost me a leg and not an arm and a leg <lol>.  Of course Albannach is worth it. And seeing my friends again. :drunk

Caryl, are you staying the week before or after?  I'm selfishly hoping it's after bc I think I'll be in Canada the week before, but no worries, I'll make it work to see you. Want to be able to hang for a few days with you and I am hoping you'll be able to squeeze a day in so we can expole the mtns. :)  Your welcome to stay here if you have more time.

I called the hotel bc not interested in driving the snake hwy back-n-forth at night (you'll see), the rate is $99/night ($20 off the original rate). When I called the resv. emp. had to ask so perhaps(?) it will change??

quoted me a rate of $99/night (code: WNC), but a note fm Greg, Celtic Heritage, said he believes it will $109 after/on Monday.

Well, I've scratched GFM off the list for this year  :'(  It just wouldn't be the same without all the crazy folks there.  I think I will try to get out to Estes Park this year instead.  I've always wanted to try so this year seems like a good year for that!
