OK, so as I posted yesterday.... I'm 97 % on this, have a hotel res at Comfort Inn & Suites in Manheim which Patsy says is on the other side of town & therefore 15-20 minutes away (Mini Cooper says it's 10

). I am flying solo, and my ETA is as yet unknown. Probably late afternoon Fri if'n I can get my lazy behind outta bed at a reasonable time.

This is one of the BEST weekends on the calender for the band, if your thinking about it and ain't quite sure...DO IT...you wont regret it!

That's per night, based on my experience. It ain't a cheap weekend, but it's well worth the investment. Sharing is key.

I stayed in the Radisson last year. The room was great. No issues. $125/night is not unreasonable based upon my travel experiences. Having a roomie does defray the costs. The other thing you can do (if weird like me) is book now and put the funds aside each month to cover so you have no worries or BIG expenditure when you get there.

I am calling on Saturday to make my reservations. I am thinking to use the on-site hotel this time. It's a toss up. The Rad has Chumley's downstairs... Decisions!!

I can't recall what it was last year, but they had advance sales like NHHG where you can get discounts.

If you don't mind driving ... there are places in Philly to stay and I mean IN Philly, not the suburbs.

Just a suggestion:

I didn't go to MidWinter in 2010 but in 2009 it took me 20 minutes to get home on the expressway that late at night and I live in South Philly.
Now during the day, it will take one hour because traffic is nuts but if you are going early am and coming back late pm, traffic is not bad.

Flights are not that expensive from Logan ...at least they weren't last year

Though I may look to fly out of Manchester this year just for fun and giggles. Parking is cheaper.

I avoid Logan like the plague! Manchester is much easier and there are no shortage of flights from there to PHL.
If you do fly, I was told that a shuttle van from PHL airport is ~$50 pp round trip to King of Prussia.

I rented a car from PHL for 22 bucks for the weekend 2 yrs ago... way cheaper than the shuttle. Flew from Manchester for 77 dollars non stop... Life is good!

Thomas...SEPTA is the local bus company...and they have regional rail lines as well. www.septa.com Looks like its $22 for a week pass (TransPass) which is good for buses, trolleys and subways...but limited on regional rail. Regional Rail doesn't go to Valley Forge/King of Prussia, but you might be able to take it to Norristown, which is roughly 5 miles away.

Reliability varies, and I have never ridden the buses, but the regional rail has been good for me. You will need maps.

Also, please be careful in Philly. Like most major cities, there are some very unsavory parts you probably want to avoid. It's a really cool place to visit and sightsee, just keep yourself safe.

I don't live there, so maybe someone else has better specific info on where to go and where to avoid. If not, let me know and I'll ask a friend of mine.

It'll be good to see you again! I'm only an hour from Philly, so let me know when you're in town and maybe I can come out and see ya.

We can check out the zoo or art museum or something.

I prefer the Radisson...if that makes any difference, tho normally I don't get to choose as I just latch onto an already booked room and share the cost with whomever paid for it.

I'm already going from home to York to Philly to Somerset and back again (~450mi). I can't run back down to KoP and back without missing a whole day (~150 miles, 3 hours in just the driving).

I've been goth since I was 12.

. But not the most modern version of it. (for example....nothing about twilight is goth to me...nor is marilyn manson :P) Very little about the Nach crowd reads as goth to me....I'd have to ask the writer what his thoughts on that description are.

I figure there's some in the crowd...but I dunno...maybe my goth friends are "extreme goths", ROFL.
